HIGH FEED MILLING
At a time when cutting production cost is a priority, one solution that allows you to reduce your machining times considerably is high feed machining.
Carried out with existing machines, this combines a low cutting depth with a high feed per tooth. It offers an alternative to high speed machining (HSM) without any heavy investment.
Safety offers you 3 high feed milling cutters:
- Araf High Feed
- Orbi High Feed
- Penta High Feed
These cover diameters from 8 to 100 mm and can reach feeds per tooth of 2 to 3 mm. |

HEAVY TURNING INSERTS
The manufacture of rolls for use in steel making is an area where machinability has been decreased significantly by the introduction of alloyed materials, especially chromium content. In addition, the use of forged rolls is increasing, and centrifugally cast products with high hardness levels and surface contamination are another challenge.
Ceramic cutting tools such as Greenleaf GEM-7 composite material and WG-300 whiskered material are finding an important place in heavy turning when combined with rigid, well-designed holding systems.
Greenleaf has extensive experience in the design and manufacture of heavy-turning tooling systems. For more than thirty years, we have supplied O.E.M. packages to many of the largest lathe manufacturers – both domestic and overseas. We will be pleased to quote tooling systems for any type machine to effectively use ceramic or carbide inserts.
WG300/WG600 – World’s Most Productive Whisker-Reinforced Ceramic Inserts
WG300 or WG600 whisker-reinforced ceramic inserts are extremely successful at machining hard materials such as hard steels and nickel- and cobalt-based super alloys, and offer excellent wear and shock resistance at high surface speeds.
WG300 and WG600 can outperform carbide and Silicon Nitride-based ceramics in heat-resistant alloys, hard steels, weld overlays and 400-series stainless steels.
WG300 and WG600 have outstanding thermal and mechanical shock resistance making it the grade of choice for intermittent cut applications, such as milling. Grooving and turning applications can also benefit from using WG300 and WG600 by reducing cycle time and extending tool life.
